What a fabulous time we’ve had in LitFest25! Wednesday 2nd April saw the beginning of another magical week of words, music, and artworks at Seaford’s historic Crypt gallery. The ancient stones resounded once more with the voices of poets, authors, storytellers, and singers. It was all inspiring, atmospheric and in a word – brilliant.
BIG thanks to all our poets, artists, writers, and storytellers: Peter Martin, Joy Lewis, and Derrick Hughes for their wondrous words and music; our own Rich Hume, workshop facilitator extraordinaire; Jefh Davies and Pam Knapp, flash fiction competition winners; Jamie Crawford, storyteller supreme; poet of Victorian travel (and so much more) Janet Sutherland, Alex Josephy for selecting poems to be read by Jefh and Chris in her unavoidable absence; writer and academic Nicholas Royle in a fascinating exchange with interviewer Hope Wolf; author GD Harper with his insightful tips on self-publishing – plus an amazing book talk; the stupendous Susan Evans leading a marvellous masterclass and guesting at our open mic poetry evening, and major kudos to EVERYONE who came along and made the week such a resounding success.
This Saturday (12th) sees a walking workshop by Rich and a return to the Welly for another exciting open mic session with Peter Kenny guesting. A great end to another vibrant festival!
The icing on the cake has been the Mayor’s Award for Innovation, which we received for providing poets to speak at local Town Council meetings. Great recognition for all that we do.
All in all, it’s been an exhilarating journey!
