LitFest – a retrospective
‘…and gentlemen in England, now abed, will think themselves accursed they were not here….’
(Shakespeare, Henry V.)
That’s a bit how we felt to be closing LitFest on Sunday night with a wonderful guest poet appearance by Susan Evans! We’ve had a marvellous line-up, a real pride of literary lions, and our heartfelt thanks go out to Susan and our other fabulous contributors:
Mischa Frankel Gardiner, Janet Sutherland and Alex Josephy, Ruth O’Callaghan, Peter Martin and Richart Van Zyl, Professor Nicholas Royle, Xanthe Gresham and the amazing entrants to our Short Story Competition. Our thanks to you all – you were truly superb!
Thanks too to our wonderful exhibiting artists: Polly, David and Philippa.
Rich and I were delighted to host three poetry workshops, and were really thrilled by the writing produced by our brilliant attendees. Big thanks to Antony Mair, Poet in Residence to the Cuckmere Pilgrim Path, for making the Walking Workshop possible, and sharing his knowledge of Arlington Village and its history. And it didn’t rain!
Once again, the Crypt proved a versatile, intimate, and magical place. Our thanks to Alice and Sophie for all their help in making this unique venue available. And lastly. we’ve had some truly amazing audiences, whose enthusiasm, appreciation, and reciprocity has known no bounds. You make LitFest special. All in all, a magnificent celebration of words in a fabulous setting.
Roll on the next time!
