What will happen in the workshop?
This is a writing workshop for poets at all levels. Alex will share selected poems you may not have encountered before, and other materials for discussion to get our ideas started. We’ll be thinking and writing about communities we know, have known, or can imagine, as well as our feelings as community insiders or outsiders. We’ll discuss various ways to work with form and layout, too. Alex hopes we’ll encounter plenty of surprises along the way!
What outcomes might there be?
By the end of the workshop, everyone will have generated lots of ideas for poems or other pieces, and will have started on the process of drafting at least one poem. There will be opportunities, but no obligation, to share some of what you’ve written with the group.
What equipment should I bring?
A pen or pencil.
Paper or a notebook, or if possible two notebooks, to help with redrafting.
