Default December
The usual run-up to Christmas
The occasional escape to my desk
Boxing Day at Wakehurst Place
That tree! So scintillating, statuesque
Denial December
A sibilant, senseless silliness
Of sanctimonious eruptions
Over the sentimental shambles
Of seasonal corruptions
Demure December
Once-a-year Christians
Being affectedly serious
Over-groomed shop assistants
Showing professional cheeriness
Designer December
Computerised flying angels
Synthesised chiming bells
Solar-powered, scented candles
Giving off strange smells
Decisive December
Politicians as trusty as Semtex
Behaving like ‘God Almighty’
Boris athwart his battle-bus
Fizzing like strontium 90
Delicious December
Eating scrumptious goodies
Mince pies freshly baked
A stuffing-full of turkey
Being totally Christmas-caked
Delightful December
A Yuletide party at the pub
To warm a damp and chilly night
Goodwill to all, even carol singers
Dreams of snow. Festivals of light

Dec 2019
A very delightful, delicate and dexterous December poem.
As opposed to one’s dreadful, disastrous and demonic December.
Thanks.
We need to invent a word like sibilant that applies to the letter ‘D’
